The windmill from the village of Rybinskie Budy (Oboyansky district, Kursk region) is located on a historical site. The time of construction is unknown. Smock mill with four sails and unknown number of millstones. Log construction. Was used as a flour mill (flour).
|Condition||The windmill is conserved|
|Status||Used by a non-museum organization|
The mill can be seen in the middle of the post here. It has not preserved its historical appearance, and the turning cap doesn’t exist. Most likely, it hasn’t preserved the mechanism either. There is some probability that this building has never even been a mill, but it is quite unlikely.
Looking at the sail blades is not worth it. They are inserted in a non-rotating structure therefore, they were clearly put there after the mill was rebuilt. As for the use of the mill, there are two variants: it’s being used as a hayloft or a granary. In any case, it is dry inside.
Note that the exterior of the building is very similar to the simplest Chernozem region smocks.
