New windmill was built in the museum of wooden architecture "Sottincy - Druzhba" (respublika Sakha (Yakutiya)). Smock mill with automatic sack hoist, four sails and one pair of millstones. Log construction. Unique details: conical spurwheel. Was used as a flour mill (flour).
|Condition||The windmill is new, however it doesn't grind flour|
In far-distant Yakutia, 50 kilometers from Yakutsk down the Lena, 2600 kilometres from the nearest famous mill in Inkino (Tomsk region) (the mill of Novosibirsk museum was dismantled and not assembled), you can find the easternmost mill of Russia. Perhaps, it also was the loneliest windmill in the world.
The mill is a replica, copied from one of the Novgorod northern smocks: either in Ladoschino (Vitoslavlitsy), or Zaval. There are some good photos here (in the middle).
The mechanism can not work, but it is a good copy - latticed sails, a sack hoist, shakers, etc.
