Conservation, renewal, reconstruction, functional restoration, starting the windmills regularly — all this is extremely important to maintain the «gene pool», the variety of windmill constructions, because there are very few windmills left.

In this section we present windmills restoration projects. Please, note, there are dozens of restorers in Russia who annually work with wooden buildings and bring them back to life. And this is what has been done in most of the museums: the mills have been restored as usual buildings and have been left on their own, with no functional use. However, the windmill is first of all a mechanism, and only then a building. Therefore, we refer only to those projects that concern windmills functional restoration, the adjustment and the launch of windmill mechanisms, and the construction of new functional windmills.
